Testing policy
Georgia Tech requires every first-year applicant to submit SAT or ACT scores. Scores may be self-reported or official during review. Georgia Tech superscores the stated SAT and ACT sections, and admitted students who enroll must send official scores before orientation.
AI and authorship policy
Published admissions guidance found. Georgia Tech says AI may help with brainstorming, editing, and refining ideas, but the final application must be the applicant's own work. Students should not copy and paste content they did not create.
What the published guidance clearly permits
- Brainstorming ideas
- Editing and refining the student's ideas
- Help organizing activities or resume information while the final submission remains the student's own
What the published guidance prohibits
- Copying and pasting application content the student did not create
What remains uncertain
The guidance does not define every transformation or disclosure boundary. Preserve the student's notes and drafts and ask Georgia Tech about an unusual workflow.
A detector percentage is not a substitute for this policy. Preserve notes, dated drafts, revision history, and feedback so the development of the student's own work remains visible.
Do not draft an old Georgia Tech short answer
The current page lists only the Common App essay. A search result or saved prompt from an earlier cycle is not enough reason to write an extra 300-word response. Check the live application before assigning work.
Use the personal statement to add what the rest of the file cannot
Georgia Tech's writing advice emphasizes authenticity, self-awareness, and a complete response to the chosen prompt. Choose evidence that reveals how you notice, decide, or change, rather than turning the essay into a second list of technical interests.

Change notes
- The live Georgia Tech page explicitly says 2026-27 applications and currently lists only the Common App personal essay.
- Older indexed material describes a 300-word Georgia Tech major response. It is not on the current 2026-27 page and should not be treated as a current requirement. Confirm the live Common App before submitting.
