Testing policy
Boston College is test optional. Applicants may send official SAT or ACT reports, self-report scores in the application, or upload self-reported scores in the applicant portal. Boston College superscores submitted tests, and enrolling students must provide official reports for scores they self-reported.
AI and authorship policy
Published admissions guidance found. Boston College says generative AI may serve as a resource or guide, but application content must remain the student's own and must never be copied directly from AI or another source.
What the published guidance clearly permits
- Using generative AI as a resource or guide while keeping the content the student's own
- Using parents, teachers, or counselors to generate ideas
What the published guidance prohibits
- Directly copying content from AI or another source into the application
What remains uncertain
The page does not define a detailed editing or rewriting workflow. Ask Boston College before using AI in a way that goes beyond its stated guide boundary.
A detector percentage is not a substitute for this policy. Preserve notes, dated drafts, revision history, and feedback so the development of the student's own work remains visible.
Choose the prompt with a real relationship or decision inside it
A tradition, conversation, stereotype, or value becomes useful when you can show one concrete moment and your response. A definition of community or a list of Jesuit values will leave the reader doing the interesting work for you.
Check the academic division before drafting
Human-Centered Engineering applicants answer a different question. Name the societal problem precisely, explain why it holds your attention, and connect it to the kind of technical and human reasoning you want to develop. Confirm the live word limit before writing to a target length.
