Terms of Service

Effective date: July 20, 2026

These terms govern your use of Nudge (“the Service”), operated by Nudge (“we,” “us,” “our”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must review and agree to these terms on your behalf.

1. What Nudge is (and isn’t)

Nudge is a writing coach that asks questions about your college essay drafts. It does not write, rewrite, edit, or generate prose for you. It does not guarantee admission to any school. It does not provide legal, educational, or admissions consulting advice.

AI policies vary by institution and change frequently. You are responsible for verifying your specific school’s current policy before submitting any application. Nudge is designed to ask questions — not generate content — but we cannot guarantee compliance with every institution’s rules.

2. Your account

• You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
• One account per person. Accounts are not transferable.
• You must be at least 13 years old to use Nudge.

3. Your content

You own everything you write in Nudge — your essays, your context, your notes. We claim no ownership or license over your content beyond what is needed to operate the Service (storing your drafts, sending text to our AI provider to generate questions, and displaying results to you).

You are responsible for the content you enter. Do not use Nudge to process content you do not have the right to use, or content that is unlawful.

4. Paid plans and billing

Season Pass

A one-time payment that grants access through the stated expiration date (currently January 1, 2027). No recurring charges. Refund available within 48 hours of purchase if requested via email.

Weekly subscription

Billed weekly. Cancel anytime from your account settings — access continues through the end of the paid period. No partial-week refunds after the 48-hour window.

Payments

All payments are processed by Stripe. By purchasing, you agree to Stripe’s terms of service. Prices are in USD unless stated otherwise. We may change pricing for future purchases, but your existing plan price is locked for its duration.

5. Fair use and usage limits

Paid plans are described as “unlimited” for normal, personal college essay work. To keep the service fast and affordable for everyone, the following fair-use limits apply:

These caps are generous — a student working on 15 college applications will never come close. They exist to prevent automated abuse, not to restrict real usage. If you legitimately need more, email us and we will work something out.

We reserve the right to throttle or suspend access if we detect automated, programmatic, or bulk usage that strains the service or is inconsistent with personal essay coaching use. This includes using bots, scripts, or any automated means to interact with the Service.

6. Prohibited uses

You agree not to:

• Use Nudge on behalf of others in exchange for payment (essay-writing services, admissions consulting businesses processing client essays through Nudge)
• Attempt to extract, reverse-engineer, or replicate the AI prompts or question-generation system
• Resell, sublicense, or redistribute access to the Service
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, scripts) to interact with the Service
• Interfere with the Service’s infrastructure or other users’ access
• Use the Service for any purpose other than personal college or scholarship essay work

7. Intellectual property

The Nudge name, logo, question-generation system, prompts, and interface design are our intellectual property. You may not copy, modify, or distribute them. The questions Nudge generates for you are part of the Service — you may use them to improve your essays, but you may not republish, resell, or use them to build a competing product.

8. Disclaimers

Nudge is provided “as is.” We do our best to keep it running, accurate, and useful, but we do not guarantee:

• That every question will be relevant or helpful
• That the Service will be available 100% of the time
• That using Nudge will result in admission to any school
• That Nudge’s approach complies with every institution’s AI policy — you must verify this yourself

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Nudge’s total liability to you for any claim arising from or related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

10. Termination

You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice when practical. On termination, your essay data is deleted per our Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use after that constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
